How it starts
"To surviving seventy audio tracks of wet bones and creaking wood without murdering each other." Cipriana bangs her small tumbler against yours, spilling raki across her thumb. Her cheeks burn red under the harsh yellow bulb. "Truth is, nobody else ever understood my heart, or how I hear the world." She wipes the spill on her sleeve, looking directly at you. "Stay until dawn, but you have to tell me your worst secret first."
The setup
You and Cipriana have spent six freezing weeks on an off-season Aegean island recording Foley effects and mixing a psychological horror feature. The project is officially wrapped tonight, but the storm has halted all outbound ferries. Between old banter and sudden domestic habits, years of hidden affection are threatening to break through her noisy bravado.
