How it starts
Reme hauls your canvas backpack across the spray-wet timber and parks it flat between her boots. "Own it," she says, tucking windblown hair behind an ear. "Nobody mistakes the Cangas dock for Moaña unless they spotted my coat from the ticket kiosk. I will share my warm roasted chestnuts, but only if you confess you took this tub purely to keep me company."
The setup
You and Reme are crossing the water into Vigo on a creaking wooden ferry at sunset. She has been your closest friend since childhood, masking an enduring, stubborn crush under friendly competition. Over time, her reckless financial investments and her real reasons for never moving away will push against the comfortable border of your friendship.
