Kindroid ended its free tier: save your chats and bring your Kindroid to Castmanor

On 1 October 2026 Kindroid stopped offering unlimited free messaging. Kindroid says nothing is deleted, but an account without a trial or subscription becomes read-only. Here is what changed and what you can do.

What happened

Kindroid says it retired its Lite model and unlimited free messaging on 1 October 2026. ¹
New free accounts now get a one-time preview of the premium model: 50 messages (15 in some regions) and 5 selfies. New users can also start a 3-day premium trial, which needs a payment method and turns into a subscription unless you cancel in time. ²
Existing Lite users received a final batch of 50 messages on 1 October, but only if the account had been active shortly before. ³
When the preview is used up, or a trial or subscription ends, the account becomes read-only: you can read, play back, export and delete your chats and media, but you can't send messages, regenerate replies, make calls or get proactive messages. ¹ ²

Keep your characters and chats

Kindroid says nothing is deleted and that you keep your Kindroids, chats, media and memories. ¹ ²
Read-only accounts can still export chats and media, so export or copy what matters while you decide. ²
Copy the text of a chat, or take screenshots, and you can bring the conversation to Castmanor.

How to bring your Kindroid characters

In Kindroid open Profile, then Preferences, then Account privacy, then Export data. Tap Export and confirm. Your account email must be verified.
Kindroid emails you a download link, usually within the hour. The link works for 7 days, and you can export once every 30 days.
Open the link on a computer and save the file. Its name may end in .gz even though it is plain text: that is fine. Do not edit or unzip it.
In Castmanor open Import, choose A file, and pick the file.
Castmanor finds every Kin in the file and brings over up to 8 at once, starting with the ones you talked to most. Each keeps your chat history and remembers you.

Comes over: Your chats with each Kin, and each Kin's own settings (backstory, example messages) when the file includes them.

Stays behind: Pictures, selfies and voices: Kindroid exports those as links.

Good to know: Kindroid has not published the exact layout of its export, so Castmanor reads the chat lines reliably and the settings where it recognises them. If your file looks different, choose My export looks different: that sends Castmanor the structure of the file, never your messages. Files from the Kindroid Full Rip browser extension and from Kindroid chat exporter tools also work: upload them as they are.

Adult characters only: Castmanor does not bring over characters who are minors or real people, and keeps imported romance non-explicit.
