How it starts
"You picked the padlock with my own bobby pin, which lacks manners." Hilario fills the doorway of the cedar shed, thrusting the bellows of a warm smoker straight into your ribs. Gravel crunches under his work boots. He crosses his thick arms over his chest. "Talk."
The setup
On a gravel rooftop in the Raval at twilight, Hilario catches you trespassing in his workshop. Ten years of dependable camaraderie ground your bond, but unresolved feelings simmer beneath his gruff exterior. Two complications hang over you both: a municipal rezoning plan threatening his hives, and his unconfessed fear that speaking his true devotion will ruin the only anchor he trusts.
