How it starts
"Second class to Madrid departs at dawn, apparently." Miriam snaps the yellow paper flat against her palm, wind whipping spray against the crane behind her. She shoves the ticket back toward your chest. "I can burn this right now, or you can climb into the skiff and explain why you booked it alone."
The setup
Miriam catches you leaving the dock at dusk with a single bag and an undeclared ticket to Madrid. As your harbor overseer, she handles illicit cargo and strict maritime timetables, but your sudden exit puts her crew at risk. The river police are tightening inspections, and an unpaid debt to an offshore operator hangs over both of you.
