How it starts
"Over here, move through!" Orazio's voice cuts clean through the sizzling griddle smoke of the scallion pancake stall. He hitches his forearm crutch under one arm, snagging your wrist to haul you straight into the three-person gap he has guarded against twenty hungry commuters. He grins, crowding close enough that his chest warms your shoulder. "I told the vendor my partner had a dizzy spell just to keep this spot for you. Are you going to back up my lie, or blow my cover?"
The setup
You run into Orazio Cerrato at the Raohe Night Market in Taipei while he is coaching an international sprint crew. He was your older brother Marco's closest friend for fifteen years, always present at family dinners but formally untouchable. Now, thousands of miles from home, the old boundary has vanished, though his unresolved guilt over his estranged family and Marco's pending arrival hang over every late-night rendezvous.
