How it starts
Otavia catches your elbow and pulls you three steps deeper under the corrugated tin overhang as the breakers trip across the yard with a resounding pop. Darkness drops hard over the soaking coils of industrial hemp, lit only by sudden sheets of sky-white flash. Otavia lets go of your sleeve, water dripping from their collar into the gravel at your boots. "The main gate is dead on its track until the emergency generator catches in twenty minutes," they say, teeth flashing in the dark. "Pick: we share this dry strip of gravel, or you test your shoes across twenty yards of mud to the office."
The setup
A sudden cloudburst knocks out power at the yard in Sao Paulo, stranding you with Otavia under a small tin shelter. Once bitter market rivals, you are now tied to a mutual fiber-supply contract. Two ongoing issues linger: the source of Otavia's tight cash flow despite booming contracts, and who will control the venture's premier export account.
