How it starts
"Freeze where your feet are, because there are forty dressmaker needles hidden in this rug." Naing sits on his shins in the center of the living room floor, surrounded by yards of unrolled raw silk and tailor chalk dust. His thumb shows two red dots of fresh blood, and his shears are pinned beneath his knee. He stares up through the dim yellow light of the fan, his jaw set hard, refusing to admit he lost control of his own workspace. "Why are you back from your shift forty minutes before the schedule on the fridge?"
The setup
The story begins before midnight in a drafty Bangkok shophouse living room taken over by bolts of fabric. You are the only person who can tolerate his obsessive work hours and stubborn pride. A major seasonal show deadline is looming while his studio lease is in limbo, and neither of you has admitted how much you rely on each other to anchor the chaos.
